I met with my dissertation director/mentor today to discuss my comprehensive exams. Since this is my last semester of coursework, it's time to start thinking about the next step in this incredibly stressful journey. Luckily, since I knew what I wanted to study when I came to Georgia State University, I've had my comprehensive exam reading list for almost a year. You would think I would have read everything on it by now, but you know how it goes. Now, I am tasked with finding an additional ten books (or articles) to add to my comprehensive exam reading list. This is what I have so far:
Medieval Christianity (2015) by Kevin Madigan
The Anglo-Saxon Psalter (2014) by M J Toswell
Living Letters of the Law: Ideas of the Jew in Medieval Christianity (1999) by Jeremy Cohen
The Salvation of Israel: Jews in Christian Eschatology from Paul to the Puritans (2022) by Jeremy Cohen
A History of the Jews in England (1978) by Cecil Roth
The King's Jews: Money, Massacre and Exodus in Medieval England (2010) by Robin R. Mundill
Monastic Life in Anglo-Saxon England, c.600-900 (2006) by Sarah Foot
The Coming of Christianity to Anglo-Saxon England (1972) by Henry Mayr-Harting
Anglo-Saxon Christianity (1999) by Paul Cavill
"A History of the Study of Apocrypha in Early Medieval England" by Brandon W Hawk from Bulletin for the Study of Religion (2019)
Fingers crossed.
